Danny Everette Smith
(September 14, 1946 - November 10, 2010)



DANNY EVERETTE SMITH, 64, of Chesapeake, Ohio, formerly of Huddy, Ky., passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord as he was surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. . Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, November 15, 2010, at Rogers Funeral Home, Belfry, Ky., with Pastor Mark Helton and Pastor W.L. Bostic officiating. Burial will follow at Coeburn Point, Huddy, Ky. Cousins and friends will serve as pallbearers. Danny was born September 14, 1946, in Huddy, Ky., a son of Ezell Smith and the late Everette Smith. Also preceding him in death was an infant sister Christine Smith. He was a graduate of Belfry High School, Huntington Barber College and Huntington School of Beauty Culture. On January 3, 1974, he opened his own business, Daniel's Den Hair Styling, where he barbered for 36 years before retiring September 10, 2010, due to failing health. The shop was also well known for his collections of Flamingo's. He was an active member of the Jaycees and a Kentucky Colonel. Those left to cherish his loving memories include his mother Ezell; sister Yvonne (Roger) Campbell; special niece Kendra Hurley-Campbell (Josh); his only child Mark Everette (Sara) Smith; his companion Rhonda Vance; her children Johnray and Kari Vance, and Amanda Pyles. He was "Popaw Danny" to Baylor, Corbin and Garrett Pyles and Emily Vance. Also surviving are uncles Roger L. (Dorothy) Plymale of Pikeville, Ky., and Ralph (Mildred) Plymale Jr. of Freeburn, Ky.; longtime friends Bruce Eanes and Corte Voorhees, also many cousins and numerous friends. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Reger Funeral Home, Huntington, W.Va., and Sunday 6 to 9 p.m. Rogers Funeral Home, Belfry, Ky.
