Obituary

Peggy Dunbar Wild, 96, of Huntington, passed away on August 24, 2016. Peggy was born in Richwood, West Virginia, the fourth of five children of Mary and John L. Dunbar. Her four beloved siblings preceded her in death: Helen Margaret Dunbar, John L. Dunbar, Henley McClung (Bud) Dunbar and Russell C. Dunbar.  Peggy was married for 49 years to the love of her life, Carter Wild, who died in 1992. She is survived by her five children: Susan Baak (Arlyn) of Centennial, CO, Dr. Alan Wild (Rebecca) of Huntington, Nancy Hastings (Dick) of Tuscaloosa, AL, Dr. Marc Wild (Holly) of Huntington and Paul Wild (Christy) of Houston, TX. She is the grandmother of 18 and great-grandmother of 15. Peggy moved with her widowed mother and siblings from Richwood to Huntington in 1933. She graduated from Huntington High and Marshall University, where she specialized in piano and was the Marshall Homecoming Queen of 1938. She loved playing the piano and shared that talent in many ways throughout her life. Peggy was an avid tennis player, involved member of First Presbyterian Church, delightful hostess, good friend, adored wife, mother and grandmother and an encourager of people. She truly lived not only the length of her life but the width of it as well and now is with her Lord. The celebration of Peggy’s life will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 1015 Fifth Avenue, Huntington, on Sunday, August 28 2016, at 3:00 p.m. The family will greet friends after the service in the church Friendship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests any contributions be made in Peggy’s name to Hospice of Huntington, 1101 6th Avenue, Huntington, WV 25701. Reger Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
