Christine Smith Pilcher, of Huntington, WV, died peacefully on January 14, 2016, at the Emogene Dolin Hospice House. She was born on April 27, 1935, in Wayne County, WV, to the late Tom and Gladys Bartram Smith. She is survived by her husband, Morton "Morty" Pilcher and their four children, Susan Dess Godwin and her husband Don of Parker, CO; Clair Ann D’Angelo and her husband Robert of Clemmons, NC; Hiram Andrew Pilcher of Asheville, NC; and Mark Allen Pilcher and his wife Beth of Huntington, WV. She is also survived by her sisters Thomasine Smith Crossan and her husband Tom of Huntington; Brenda Smith McMillan and her husband John of Richmond, VA; and a brother William Smith and his wife Dot of Anchorage, AK. Additional survivors include her grandchildren, Adam Godwin, Vincent D’Angelo, Danielle D’Angelo, Nicole D’Angelo, 1st Lt. Hannah Pilcher Parrish, Summer Pilcher, Hattie Pilcher, one great-grandson, Jaxson Parrish, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Christine was a graduate of Buffalo High School and Wiseman Secretarial School. She was employed by the AAA of Huntington and H.E. Pilcher and Company where she was a licensed realtor. Christine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She and her husband enjoyed traveling all over the world together. During their travels, she never met a stranger and touched the lives of people everywhere. Christine was always helpful to everyone. She helped her husband build H.E Pilcher and Company, a successful family business. She helped care for her extended family, children, friends, and neighbors whenever they were in need. She will be lovingly remembered by everyone who ever knew her. A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 17 at from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Reger Mortuary in Huntington, West Virginia. Per Christine’s wishes, a private family celebration of her life and committal service will be held in the spring.
