She was a 1958 graduate of West Virginia University, where she earned her Bachelor and Master degrees in English. She was an active member of Chi Omega Sorority. She served in numerous social and civic organizations throughout her life, including President of the St. Albans Women’s Club. Barbara was a school teacher for many years where she was employed by the Kanawha, Putnam and Cabell County Boards of Education. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the late John William Vaughan, MD. Left to celebrate her life and cherish the memories are her daughter, Amy Anne Vaughan, MD., and son-in-law, Christopher Keaton, of Cannonsburg, Kentucky; and, her daughter, Heather Miller of Sissonville, West Virginia. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Reger Funeral Home, in Huntington, West Virginia, with the Reverend Kevin Lantz officiating.
