Obituary

Matthew Rodney Ranson
(December 27, 1972 - September 6, 2017)

MATTHEW RODNEY RANSON, 44, of Huntington, died Wednesday, September 6, 2017, in Barboursville. Matt was the beloved son of Phillip and Judy Ranson. He was born in Huntington, W.Va., on December 27, 1972. He was an honor graduate of Barboursville High School. He attended Virginia Tech for two years and graduated from Marshall University with a degree in Geology. Matt was a kind, considerate person who was liked by all. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Cynthia Grimes and her husband Stephen; a special nephew, Ryan Matthew Grimes; two aunts, Susan Ranson and Lynette Boyes; one uncle, Steve Black and his wife Lavonna; and a loving cat, Furby. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2017, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, with Rev. Ron Burnsworth officiating. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
