Violet M. Waggoner
(May 13, 1931 - July 14, 2009)



Violet M. Waggoner, 78, of Huntington, WV, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2009, in Cornerstone Hospital, Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday, July 17, 2009, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor William Kouns and Rev. James Benner officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Huntington. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews. She was born May 13, 1931 in Wheelersburg, Ohio a daughter of the late Rev. William and Hila Williams Hamilton. Her husband, Paul Eugene Waggoner; an infant daughter, Cheryl Waggoner; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Homer and Elizabeth Waggoner; also preceded her in death. She was retired from the accounting department of the State of West Virginia, having worked for the Department of Human Services, Barboursville State Hospital, and Huntington State Hospital. She also formerly worked for the Scioto County Auditors Office and was a former resident of Midland Meadows in Ona. Violet was a former member of North Moreland Baptist Church and was currently a member of the First Huntington Christian Baptist Church of God in Guyandotte, where she was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary and various other church groups. Survivors include: a son and daughter-in-law, Darrell Lee and Regina Waggoner of Barboursville, WV; two grandchildren, Stacie Denise Waggoner of Huntington and Michael Scott Waggoner of Barboursville; three step grandchildren, David Allen of Huntington, K.C. Chapman of Teays Valley, WV, and Adam Chapman of Milton; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Phyllis McDaniel of Crosby, TX, Barbara and Rodney Liles of Monroe, NC, and Delores and Jim Benner of Wheelersburg, OH; a brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Jean Hamilton of Portsmouth, OH; and her dear friends, Lorine Morrison and Betty Neal. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, July 16, 2009, at Chapman's Mortuary.
