Marie S. Kearns
(June 5, 1919 - October 23, 2009)



Marie S. Kearns, 90, of Proctorville, OH, passed away Friday, October 23, 2009, in Heartland of Riverview, South Point, OH. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at St. John�s Episcopal Church, with the Reverend Karen F. Humbert officiating. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Huntington. She was born June 5, 1919 in Huntington, WV a daughter of the late Robert Lee and American Bowen Farley Stanley. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Rexford Shuff; her second husband, Robert Herman Kearns; three brothers, Oval Stanley, Charles E. Stanley, and Joseph B. Stanley; and four sisters, Lula Farley Childers, Willo Farley Dickerson, Beatrice Farley Workman, and Dorothy Stanley Dusenberry. She was a registered nurse employed by International Nickel Company as an industrial nurse. She was a 1941 graduate of St. Mary's School of Nursing, Huntington, WV. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church where she had been a member of the choir and served on the vestry. She was a past member of the Board of Directors of Trivantage Federal Credit Union; was a Kentucky Colonel; volunteered for the American Red Cross and Hospice of Huntington; and was a member of Guyandotte Chapter #89 OES. Survivors include: her children, Charles R. Shuff of North Beach, MD, Anne M. Shuff of Proctorville, OH, Robert S. Shuff and wife, Marti of Somerville, VA, and Gary Kearns and wife, Jenny of Murrells Inlet, SC; and two grandchildren, Ashley Marie and Emily Jewel Kearns. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, 3000 Washington Blvd., Huntington, WV 25705. Friends may call from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, October 26, 2009, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington.
