Mildred Afton Wheeler
(February 11, 1919 - January 28, 2010)


Mildred Afton Wheeler, 90, of Huntington, WV, died Thursday January 28, 2010 at Heritage Center Huntington. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday February 1, 2010 at Chapman's Mortuary Huntington with Pastor Keith Leap officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Afton was born February 11, 1919 in Cabell Co. WV a daughter of the late Gordon Caylor & Grace Rayburn Wheeler. She retired from the former Anderson-Newcomb Co. She was a member of the Highlawn United Methodist Church and also a member of the Guyandotte Chapter # 89 O.E.S. for over 50 years whose members will conduct Eastern Star Services at 6:00 PM Sunday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Scott Freelon Wheeler, one sister, Helen Eloise Clay, two brothers, Sherwood Douglas Clay & Lowell Landon Clay. Survivors include two sons & daughters-in-law, Gordon M. & Linda Wheeler of Proctorville, OH, Freelon Dwain & Pamela Wheeler of Milton, loving grandmother of, Cheri Cobb, & Daniel Wheeler both of Proctorville, Scott Wheeler of Milton, & Martin Wheeler of Scott Depot, 6 great-grandchildren, Dru, Hunter, & Landen Wheeler of Milton, Allison Cobb of Proctorville, Karsen & Kennedy Wheeler of Scott Depot, 2 sisters, Myrtle Roy of Barboursville & Wanda Hutchison of Chesapeake, OH, two brothers, Henry & Howard Clay both of Barboursville. The family would like to thank the staff of the third floor at Heritage Center for all their loving care. Friends may call at Chapman's Mortuary from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday January 31, 2010.
