Gladys Blankenship

Mrs. Gladys Fern Blankenship, 98, of Huntington, widow of Marvin L. Blankenship, Sr. passed away Friday August 10, 2012 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Harmony United Methodist Church, where she has been a long time member with Rev. Phil Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. She was born March 16, 1914 in Wayne County, a daughter of the late Stephen Henry and Charlotte Plybon Barbour. She and her husband were self employed Grocers in Huntington. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Thacker, 2 sons, Jennings Blankenship and Marvin Blankenship, and 8 siblings. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Myra and Charles Nash of Huntington, a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Ann Blankenship of Billingsley, AL, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and many great great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 pm until 7 pm Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Chapman’s Mortuary and after 1:00 pm Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Harmony United Methodist Church, 3800 Riverside Drive, Huntington, WV 25705.
