MR. DOYLE E. SMITH, 88, of Proctorville, Ohio, formerly of Huntington, WV, and New Orleans, LA, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. He was born in Amigo, WV, February 8, 1924, a son of the late James Calvin and Minnie Bates Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Loma Muzetta "Peggy" Adkins Smith, a grandson Nathan David Mucci, a sister Eileen Wtulich, and a brother Paul Smith. A brief graveside funeral service will be conducted at White Chapel Memorial Gardens at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2012, with Rev. Pat Collier officiating. Burial will follow. He served in the Air Force during WW II and was a retired Director of Investigation, Federal Food and Drug Administration, New Orleans District, and had worked for the FDA for 31 years and retired with 41-1/2 years of service with the U.S. Government. He is survived by his children Vicki Lynn Mucci and her husband John of West Yarmouth, MA, Byron Lee Smith of Austin, Texas and Sheila Ann Smith of Proctorville, Ohio; five grandchildren, Erin Mucci Smith of East Longmeadow, MA, Stephen Smith of Huntington, Sasha Varney of Milton, WV, and Tyler and Jordan Smith, both of Austin, Texas; five great-grandchildren, a sister Doris Davis and husband Don of Barboursville, WV, and a brother Robert "Bob" Smith and his wife Carolyn of Proctorville, Ohio. Friends may call at Chapman's Mortuary from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Friday, August 10, 2012. A service will be held at noon Saturday, August 11, 2012, at Chapman's Mortuary, then the procession will leave the mortuary at 12:30 p.m. for White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
