Mary Catherine Watson
(January 27, 1923 - October 5, 2012)



Our beloved mother, grandmother, and best friend, Mary Catherine Watson, 89, of Huntington, WV, went home to be with Jesus and be reunited with the love of her life, her husband of 68 years, Allen T. Watson, on Friday, October 5, 2012, in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. Catherine was born January 27, 1923 in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late Charles Lenvil and Irene Collins Chapman. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Karl Gillette and two sisters, Mildred Triplett and Elsie Johnson. She was a member of Highlawn Baptist Church and was a retired switchboard operator and receptionist for the Southwestern Community Action Council. Survivors include: two daughters, Brenda Watson Comer and Kathy Watson Gillette, both of Huntington; four grandchildren, Todd (Adrienne) Gillette of South Point, OH, Emily (Jesse) Thacker and Brian Comer, all of Huntington and Brad (Lizz) Comer of Columbus, OH; four great grandchildren, Zachary Gillette and Katie Beth Thacker, both of Huntington, Alexis Church of Ashland, KY and Marleigh Kate Gillette of South Point, OH; and two nephews, Butch Johnson of Rural Retreat, VA and David Triplett of Alexandria, VA. The family would like to express a special thanks to Hospice of Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday, October 8, 2012, at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Jerry Chapman officiating. Entombment will be in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Pallbearers will be Butch Johnson, David Triplett, Brian Comer, Brad Comer, Todd Gillette, and Jesse Thacker. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Monday at Chapman’s Mortuary.
