Billie Harold "Bill" Gill
(July 23, 1923 - January 11, 2013)



Billie Harold “Bill” Gill, 89, of Huntington, WV, passed away Friday, January 11, 2013, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor David Cartwright and Pastor Bill DeMoss officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington, with military graveside rites conducted by Milton American Legion Post 139 Honor Guard. Bill was born July 23, 1923, in Huntington, to the late H.F. and Dollie Hite Gill. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked for over forty years at Commercial Optical Mfg. Co., Huntington. He was a member of the former Ninth Avenue United Methodist Church and a current member of Crossroads United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; ten brothers and sisters, Ruth Gill Fulks, Bertha Gill Plybon, Irvin Gill, Leland Gill, James Gill, Naomi Gill Meadows, Lloyd Gill, Norman Gill, Christine Gill Ladd and Ophelia Gill; and one son, James Harold Gill. He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Virginia Kelly Gill; one brother, Robert W. Gill (Beulah); sister-in-law, Marie P. Kelly; two daughters, Judith G. Heinz (Charles) and Dianne Ilene G. Hantak (Thomas); five grandchildren, Brian Lee Heinz (Charlene), Mark Edward Heinz, Stephanie M. McCallister (Jerry), Todd Gill and Chad Gill; one great grandchild; and by many beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, January 14, 2013, at Chapman’s Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads United Methodist Church or Hospice of Huntington.
