Obituary



Harriet Gillespy Blake, 86, of Huntington, wife of Russell D. Blake, Jr., went home to be with the Lord Sunday, December 18, 2016, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Thursday, December, 22, 2016, at Chapman's Mortuary, with Pastor Keith Weibe, Jr., officiating, with sons James and David assisting. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. She was born July 1, 1930, in Charleston, WV, a daughter of the late Dr. Thurman Gillespy, Sr., and Bess Bonsted Gillespy. In addition to her parents, 3 sisters, Nell Ruth Gillespy, Martha G. Childers (Tom), and Mildred Vaughan (Peter); two brothers, Dr. William G. Gillespy and Robert H. Gillespy; and one daughter-in-law, Tabby F. Blake also preceded her in death. She was a homemaker, and a member of Grace Gospel Church where she taught 2 year olds in Sunday school for over 25 years. Survivors in addition to her husband include; one daughter and her husband, Marilyn J. and Gary Cline of Huntington; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Pastor David M. Blake of Barboursville, and James R. and Lisa Blake of Huntington; one brother and his wife, Dr. Thurman Gillespy, Jr. and Elaine of Ormond Beach, FL; 8 grandchildren, Stephanie A. van der Kraan (Richard), Michael J. Blake (Michelle), Katherine E. Alderman (David), Mary E. Blake, Kevin A. Cline, Ruth A. Sperry (Daniel), Christa L. Blake and Caren A. Blake; 6 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Lucy Gillespy and Alberta Gillespy; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the folks at Chateau Grove for their kindness toward Mom, and the staff of the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House for their care.
