Obituary

Nova C. Byrd, 94, of Huntington, widow of Clarence Byrd, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at her residence. She was born December 31, 1921 in Huntington, WV a daughter of the late James William and Rose Ann Sawyer Smith. Others preceding her in death were five sisters, Linda Sowards, Geneva Perry, Garnet Perkins, Leora Harrison, and Laura Shilling; two brothers, Earl Smith and Orville Smith; and a nephew, Willard Harrison. She was a former presser at Corbin, Ltd. and a member of VFW Post 9738. Survivors include two nephews, Daniel Sowards and Merill Harrison of Huntington; nieces, Diana Thrush of Indiana, and Kathy Stone of Texas; and two great nieces whom she raised, Breana Sowards and Alyssa Sowards of Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Monday, January 2, 2017 at Chapman's Mortuary with Rev. Richard S. Mobayed officiating. Burial will be in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller OH. Friends may visit family one hour prior to services on Monday at Chapman's Mortuary.
