Betty Jo Adkins
(February 16, 1931 - December 10, 2009)



Betty Jo Adkins, 78, of Barboursville, WV, passed away, Thursday December 10, 2009 in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral service will be conducted 2:30 PM Sunday December 13, 2009 at Chapman's Mortuary Huntington with Ted Smith officiating. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. Betty Jo was born February 16, 1931 in Sheridan, WV, a daughter of the late Sesco & Mae Damron Isaacs. She was an administrative assistant with Polan Reality. Betty Jo was a member of the Highlawn Baptist Church, Barboursville Women's Club, and the White Shrine. Betty Jo's love for the Order of the Eastern Star began when she was initiated April 28, 1966 at Guyandotte Chapter No. 89, of Huntington whose members will conduct Eastern Star Service at 7:30 PM Saturday. She was Past Matron of her chapter and remained an active member while also serving West Virginia Grand Chapter. She served as Grand Representative of Florida, Deputy Instructor, Instructor, Grand Electa, and was elected to the highest office in Grand Chapter, that of Worthy Grand Matron, for the year 1997-1998. She served that year with Worthy Grand Patron, Don Holbert of Vienna Chapter No. 151, Vienna. She was appointed by Most Worthy Grand Matron, Barbara Denton of Oklahoma, as a Committee member for the General Grand Chapter for the term 2006-2009. Betty Jo set forth an example to all of love and kindness. She had a smile for everyone she met and will live on in the lives of those who knew her. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers and one sister. She is survived by the love of her life, James G. Adkins, one daughter Carolyn Adkins Regan; a special son-in-law, Patrick Regan; two grandsons, Sean Patrick Regan and Matthew James Regan, whom she loved beyond measure all of Milton, two sisters, Alma Mae Chapman of Palm Bay, FL, & Anna Margaret James (Hank) of West Hamlin, one brother Greeley Harold Isaacs (Minnie) of Scott Depot. The family would like to thank Hospice of Huntington especially Travis, Vickie and Clair. Her family and friends were her life. Flowers will be excepted or donations may be made to The American Diabetes Association. Friends may call at Chapman's Mortuary from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday December 12, 2009.
