Ray Toppins, 86, of Harts, WV, passed away Tuesday December 22, 2009. Graveside funeral service will be conducted 1:00 PM Monday December 28, 2009 at Woodmere Memorial Park with Minister Jack Capehart officiating. Ray was born July 27, 1923 in Logan, WV, a son of the late John Medley and Martha Neace Toppins. He was an U.S. Army veteran of WWII, and a mechanic by trade. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Mavis Toppins, one son Ronald Toppins, two grandchildren, Emily Edmonds and William Blair Edmonds II, and three brothers, Fred, Okey & Otto Toppins. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Jerry Richards of Harts and Linda and Jack Capehart of Barboursville, a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Sandy Toppins of Ranger, eight grandchildren, Michelle Toppins, Jerry Ray Richards, Kathy Thompson, Jonathan and Steven Ellis, Elisa Cremeans, Beverly Swann and Brad Edmonds, and ten great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Tyler, Nathan, Conner, Brandon, Andrew, Liam, Erika, Andrew and Adrianna. Chapman's Mortuary Huntington is assisting the family.
