James Robert "Bob" Saunders
(July 17, 1927 - December 25, 2009)



James R. "Bob" Saunders, 82 of Huntington, WV, died Friday December 25, 2009 at his home. Graveside funeral service with military graveside services conducted by Veteran's Honor Guard Post 16 will be conducted 12:00 PM Monday December 28, 2009 at the White Chapel Mausoleum, White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV, with Curt Miller officiating. Burial will follow. Bob was born July 17, 1927 in Dickson, WV a son of the late Luther "Buck" & Lola Shannon Saunders. He was U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Bob was a wonderful father and grandfather, and had retired from Sun Oil Company, having been a mechanic, dispatcher, and lastly a truck driver for Sun Oil. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Betty Irene Chapman Saunders, a brother, Tommy Saunders, two sisters, Bessie Ray & Avanell Butler. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Nathan & Kathy Saunders of Huntington, Stan & Patty Saunders of Fishers, IN.; a grandson, Josh Saunders of Huntington; three granddaughters, Amber, Rachel, and Samantha Saunders all of Fishers; a sister, Cornelius "Babe" Farrar of Huntington; niece, Sandy Booton of Dickson; nephew, Gary Ray of Titusville, Fl.; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Phaup of Columbia, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Huntington. The family will greet friends after 11:30 AM Monday at the cemetery. Chapman's Mortuary Huntington in charge of arrangements
