Vernon Hensley

Jack Vernon Hensley, 78, of South Point, OH, husband
of Jeannie Chess Hensley, passed away Wednesday May 20, 2009, at the Emogene
Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted
12:00 PM Sunday May 24, 2009, at Chapman's Mortuary, with Pastor Michael S.
Chapman officiating. Burial with military graveside rites conducted by V.F.W.
Post 1064, Huntington, will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens,
Barboursville. He was born October 29, 1930 in Huntington, WV; the son of
the late John L. and Nina Wallace Hensley. His stepmother, Avis "Abby"
Hensley, and brother, Morris Hensley also preceded him in death. Jack was a
graduate of Huntington East High School, served in the U. S. Army, and was a
retired Carman at the former C&O Railroad for 42 years. He belonged to the
V.F.W. Post 1064, the B.P.O.E. 313, Huntington, and was an avid bowler,
having bowled on the C & O Railroad League and was active in the bowling
association for many years where he was a director for many state, local,
and national tournaments in this area. In addition to his wife survivors
include two daughters and a son-in-law, Jacqueline Noble of Huntington, and
Elizabeth and Robert Scheidel of Greenville, MI; two sons, Shawn William
Hensley of Orlando, FL, and Matthew Chess Hensley of Huntington; three
adopted girls, Betsey Boruta of Greenville, MI, Kathy Adkins and spouse,
Bruce Adkins of Ona, WV, and Jan Bartrum of Huntington; a brother and
sister-in-law, John R. and Shirley Hensley of Winston-Salem, NC; a sister
and brother-in-law, Nineta Hensley Deskins and Gene Deskins of Phoenixville,
PA; grandchildren, Tiffany Noble Thacker and spouse, Jason Thacker, H.
Justin Noble and spouse, Robin Burns, Audra Elizabeth Scheidel, Kelsey
Scheidel, Sara Boruta, Emily Boruta, Alan Adkins, Taylor Adkins, Skylar
Bartrum, and Rachael Bartrum; and one great granddaughter, Madison Paige
Noble. Friends may call 6:00-9:00 PM Saturday at Chapman's Mortuary,
Huntington.
