William Stevenson Hamlin
(May 13, 1926 - August 27, 2011)

William Stevenson Hamlin, 85, of Huntington, passed away Saturday August 27, 2011 at his residence. He was born May 13, 1926 in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Ether J. and Irene Carter Hamlin. His longtime companion, Peggy Trent, and two brothers, Robert L. Hamlin and Lloyd J. Hamlin also preceded him in death. Bill was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, and retired from the C&O Railroad, having worked last in Ashland, KY, as the Yard Master. Survivors include his sister-in-law, Clara Hamlin of Huntington; stepdaughter, Sandra Maynard of Lexington, KY; stepsons, Roger Huff of North Carolina, and Allen Trent of Huntington; a niece, Nancy Hamlin, and five nephews, Dennis Hamlin, Bruce Hamlin, James Hamlin, Brent Hamlin, and Craig Hamlin. Memorial services will be conducted 1:00 PM Saturday September 3, 2011 at Chapman’s Mortuary, with Pastor Brady K. Lipscomb officiating. Friends may call after 12:30 PM at Chapman’s Mortuary.
