Pamela Lucy Vivian Watkins Slone McComas
(December 8, 1921 - August 31, 2011)



Pamela Lucy Vivian Watkins (Slone) McComas, 89 years old, of Huntington, West Virginia went to Heaven to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. She was born December 8, 1921 in Trinidad, West Indies. She was the eldest daughter of the late Edgar Vivian and Selena Nancoo Watkins. Pamela was a long time member of Grace Gospel Church and a former employee of the Huntington Dress Factory. She was a godly mother and grandmother and her greatest response to anyone seeking advice was, “Just pray about it and God will take care of it.” In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands: Hassel Slone and Ruel McComas, three brothers: Robin Watkins of Trinidad, West Indies; Ian Watkins of Toronto, Canada; and Edward “Teddy” Watkins of London, England. She was also preceded by two sisters: infant sister Blossom Mary Watkins of Trinidad, West Indies; and Joy Fagg of London, England. She is survived by two sisters: Joan (Rosemary) Vincente of Lakeworth, FL; Barbara Jurawan of Trinidad, West Indies; and Sister-in-law, Iris Watkins of Concord, Canada. Pamela is survived by three daughters: Sherry (Slone) Smith (Gil) of Huntington, WV with whom she made her home; Debbie Slone Jurawan (Bing) of Trinidad, West Indies; and Joy “Rosemary” Slone Graham (Glenn) of Jonesboro, GA. She is survived by three sons: Thurmon Slone (Kay), Dewain Sloane (Donna), and Robert Slone (Jackie), of Huntington, WV. She is survived by twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and all her friends at Fairfield East Senior Citizen Center. Pamela had six special grandchildren that she helped reared and thought of as her own to include: Jeremy Smith, Joshua Smith, and Rosemary “Rosie” Smith of Huntington, WV; Aimee (Smith) Porter and Amber Smith-Jeffers both of Orange Park, FL and Ashley (Smith) Byer of Okinawa, Japan. Her other grandchildren include: James “Jimmy” Slone of Proctorville, OH; April (Graham) Shearer of Locust Grove, GA; Mark Graham, Jonesboro, GA; Brian Graham of Indianola, IA; Rachel (Slone) White of Jackson, TN; Heather Slone of Huntington, WV; Sean Sloane of Columbus, OH; Cheryl (Sloane) Thomas Perroud and Jamie Sloane of Gallipolis, OH; Joshua Sloane of Proctorville, OH; Eric Jenkins of Virginia; Jacob Jurawan, Joel Jurawan, Andrew Jurawan , and Andrea Jurawan of Trinidad, WI. She will be sadly missed by all who loved and knew her. Honorary pallbearers will be her sons: Thurmon Slone, Dewain Sloane, and Robert Slone. Pallbearers will be son-in-law Gil Smith, David Byer, and grandsons: Jeremy Smith, Joshua Smith, Joel Jurawan, James Slone, Sean Sloane, and Brian Graham. Visitation will be at Chapman’s Mortuary on Sunday, September 4, 2011 from 5-9pm. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Keith Wiebe, Sr. and Pastor Bill Holley at Grace Gospel Church 1111 Adams Avenue Huntington, WV on Monday, September, 5, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Ridgelawn Memorial Park Huntington, WV. “When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.”
