Thelma Hale Newman

Mrs. Thelma Hale Newman, 93, of Huntington, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2011, at her residence. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 11, 2011, at Spring Hill Cemetery, with Johnnie Lowe officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. She was born June 1, 1918, in Wayne County, a daughter of the late Elijah and Laura Adkins Hale. She was retired from the Federal prison at Alderson, WV, as a supervisor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings; Betty Lowe, Vada Christy, Sadie Maynard, Ruby Finley, Earl Finley, and Harold Hale. She is survived by her son Hale Newman, a special friend Gail Ingram, and a granddaughter, Jennifer Ingram, all of Huntington. Visitation will be after 10:00 am, Thursday, August 11, 2011 at the cemetery. Chapman’s Mortuary is assisting the family.
