Betty Jane Miller Ellis
(April 19, 1924 - June 27, 2011)



Betty Jane Miller Ellis, 87, of Huntington, WV, widow of Burlen W. Ellis, passed away Monday, June 27, 2011, in Madison Park Assisted Living. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Highlawn Baptist Church, of which she was a member, with her grandson Pastor David Hutchinson and her daughter-in-law Rev. Suzanne Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. She was born April 19, 1924, in Cabell County, WV, a daughter of the late Cleophus and Elizabeth Chaney Miller. In addition to her husband, three sisters, a brother, and a grandchild also preceded her in death. She was a homemaker, she taught Sunday school for 52 years, and was a Deaconess for shut-in and sick visitation. Survivors include; a daughter, Jane Ellis Hutchinson of Huntington; a son and daughter-in-law, William “Bill” and Rev. Suzanne Ellis of Barboursville; six grandchildren and their spouses, Brian and Amy Hutchinson of Raleigh, NC, Jason and Rhonda Hutchinson of Huntington, David and Jessica Hutchinson of Spartanburg, SC, Mark Hutchinson and Anita McLendon of Los Angeles, CA,and Neisha Ellis and Chuck Brown, and Ginger Ellis and Paul Hugget all of Huntington; and five great-grandchildren, Reagan Hutchinson, Alyssa Hutchinson, Ellie Jayne Hutchinson, Max Brown and Sam Hugget. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:30 pm Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at Chapman’s Mortuary, and after 10:00 am Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Huntington City Mission.
