Jess Nelson White

Jess Nelson White, 95, of Huntington, widower of Lenora Jane Anderson White, passed away Monday June 20, 2011, at his residence. He was born August 20, 1915 in Chicago, IL, a son of the late Jesse and Jennie Nelson White. Others preceding him in death were a brother, Raymond White; sister-in-law, Hilda White; and a brother-in-law, Bob Iversen. Jess was a retired truck driver with the former Chris & Shaver Concrete Company. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 9738, Guyandotte, who will conduct military graveside rites, and American Legion Post 16, Huntington. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Richard A. and Carol White of Vermilion, OH; two grandchildren, Carmenita Smalley and husband, Charles, of Elyria, OH, and Kimberly Dawn White of Vermilion, OH; two great grandchildren, Alyssia J. Smalley and Kara Smalley both of Elyria; a sister, Evelyn Iversen of Glen Ellen, IL; a brother, Curtis E. White of Huntington; and a special niece, Sandra Berry of Lavalette. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday June 23, 2011 at White Chapel Mausoleum, with Pastor David Cartwright officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 10:30 AM Thursday at the cemetery.
