John J. Black

John J. Black, 82, of Proctorville, OH, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013, in the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Huntington. He was born November 20, 1931 in Proctorville, OH a son of the late Charles W. and Geneva Zirkle Black. Two sisters, Evalean Clements and Connie Lee Ellis and two brothers, Charles W. Black, Jr. and Robert David Black, also preceded him in death. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Germany. Survivors include: a sister, Gloria Fellure of Mercerville, OH; a brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Sharon Black of Proctorville; several nieces and nephews, including two special nephews, Roger Estep of Mercerville, OH and Michael William Black of Proctorville, OH; and his many friends in Proctorville, OH. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, November 23, 2013, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Rev. Lenny Romans officiating. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, OH with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 6878 of Proctorville. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday at Chapman's Mortuary.
