Asa Howard Bowen

Asa Howard Bowen, 74, of Ona, passed away Monday November 11, 2013 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was born January 31, 1939 in Cabell County, WV, a son of the late Ernie Clarence and Goldie Chapman Bowen. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 24 years, Bonnie Roy Bowen; seven sisters, Irene Galloway, Marie Bowen, Mozelle Jefferson, Elsie Fortner, Ruby Shear, Mary Ann Aliff, and Carylon Chapman; and two brothers, Junior Bowen and Max Bowen. He was a former mechanic having worked last at Island Creek Coal Company. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-laws, Tawnya and David Hauer of Oklahoma City, OK, Michelle and Kenny Goodwin of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, and Angie and Jim Adkins of Ona, WV; a sister and brother-in-law, Rosalie and Charles Adams of Houston, TX; six grandchildren, Stephanie Dilaveri, Brittany Hauer, Ashley (Adam) Porter, Jade Goodwin, Jared Goodwin, and Benjamin Adkins; a great granddaughter, Savannah Porter; his care giver, Robert Hull; and many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Alice (Hugh) Langdale. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday November 16, 2013, at Chapman’s Mortuary with Minister Danny Evans officiating. Burial will be in Greenbottom Memorial Park, Greenbottom. Friends may visit after noon on Saturday at the funeral home.
