Phyllis Joy Casey

Phyllis Joy Casey, 73, passed away peacefully in her sleep on 4 November 2013, at Pleasant Valley Hospital, Point Pleasant, West Virginia. She was a member of the 1958 graduating class of Scott High School. Phyllis was a remarkable daughter, a caring sister, and a doting mother who brought joy and happiness to everyone who was blessed to know her. She will be remembered for a great number of things, but especially for her love of music, her unique sense of humor, and her unmistakable devotion to and love for her family. Phyllis touched the lives of many people with her kindness and compassion and we are all better people for knowing her. Phyllis is preceded in death by her father, Denver C. Price and her sister, Carol Sue DeVere. She is survived by her mother, Lucille Price Wheatley of Rock Creek, her sister Kathy Keller of Charleston, her four children; Jerry Casey and his wife Laurie of Charleston, Amanda Holland and her husband Steve of Severn, Maryland, Michael Casey and his wife Lisa of Charleston, and Stacey Izaguirre and her husband Oscar of Greenhills, Ohio, and the true lights of her life, her grandchildren, Cody Casey, Zachary Holland, Ashley Casey and Sophia Izaguirre. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Bob DeVere of Charleston, her nephew Nick Keller of Charleston, and her nephew Ben DeVere, his wife Carrie, their children Joey, Chris, and Abrielle of Dunbar. A small memorial service will be held on Wednesday, 6 November 2013, from 4:30 to 6:30 at Chapman’s Mortuary, 2851 Third Avenue, Huntington, WV 25702. In lieu of flowers, the family requests all donations be sent to the amazing people who gave Phyllis such wonderful care in her time of need at “Operation Santa Clause” Lakin Hospital, 11522 Ohio River Rd., West Columbia, WV 25287, (304) 675-0860.
