Walter Ray Scarberry, Sr.
(January 3, 1930 - November 18, 2013)



Walter Ray Scarberry, Sr., 83, of Huntington, WV passed away Monday, November 18, 2013 in Saint Mary’s Medical Center. Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 pm Thursday, November 21, 2013, in Oaklawn Memorial Park, with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. He was born January 3, 1930 in Guyandotte, WV a son of the late Chauncey and Neva Leadman Scarberry. One son David Lee Scarberry, 4 sisters and 5 brothers also preceded him in death. He was a U S Army veteran serving with the 11th Airborne, a member of Central Freewill Baptist Church and VFW Post 9738 Guyandotte. He retired from Steel of WV as a melter. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, JoAnn Scarberry; two sons and daughters-in-law, Walter Ray Scarberry Jr. and Sue of Jacksonville, FL, Danny K. and Shirley Scarberry of Huntington; an adopted daughter, Becky Worden also of Huntington; one sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis Jean and Alfred Holley of Gallipolis, OH; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert Lee and Janet Scarberry of Jacksonville, FL; 5 grandchildren, Krystal Pratt, Jason H. Scarberry, Zane Scarberry, Lee Scarberry and Christina Robinson; 9 great-grandchildren. Friends may call 30 minutes prior to service time Thursday at the cemetery.
