Charles Eugene Collins
(May 3, 1935 - June 9, 2015)

Charles Eugene Collins, 80, of Huntington, WV, went home to be with the Lord on June 9, 2015. He was born May 3, 1935 in Cabell County, WV a son of the late Lyman (Shady) Collins and Mamie Miller Collins. Two brothers Bill and Robert Collins, also preceded him in death. He retired from Carolina Freight, served his country in the United States Navy, and was a member of VFW Post 1064. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Marjorie Smoot Collins; three sons, Frank Collins, Rich (Carolyn) Collins, and Phillip (Georgie) Collins; and one daughter, Deborah Messinger; ten grandchildren including Amanda Collins Adkins, loving granddaughter and caregiver; nine great grandchildren; and one great great grandson. Visitation will be on Friday, June 12, 2015, from noon until 2:00 pm at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Dwight Mays officiating. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Veterans Honor Guard Post 16. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of Huntington.
