Obituary

Franklin Ray Tackett
(February 1, 1958 - June 23, 2015)


Franklin “Ray” Tackett, 57, of Huntington, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor James Moses officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery with Veterans Honor Guard Post 16 providing military graveside rites. Ray was born February 1, 1958, in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Carl Lee and Lillie Mae Howard Tackett. In addition to his parents, he had two sisters, Jean Christian and Rosetta Tackett; and two brothers, Carl E. “Sonny” Tackett and James S. Tackett, precede him in death. He graduated from Grove City High School, and was a member of DAV Chapter 2, Huntington, where he was holding the office of Senior Vice Commander. He was retired from the US Navy and a disabled veteran. Survivors include: two daughters, Natasha Bailey and Cheyenne Tackett, both of Huntington; three grandchildren, Deandre Hewitt, Shaun Hewitt, and Demetrius Dennis; five sisters, Beverly Ann of Chesapeake, Laura (Dan) Whisenant of Kenova, Sharon Rice of Kenova, Sandra Walker of Culloden, and Patricia (John) Chapman of Huntington; several nieces and nephews, and the mother of Cheyenne, Susan Mays. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday at Chapman’s Mortuary.
