David Harlan Thomas
(August 12, 1945 - June 27, 2015)

David Harlan Thomas, 69, of Chesapeake, OH, formerly of Huntington, WV, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015, at his home. He was born August 12, 1945 in Huntington, WV, the son of the late Leon and Lois Harlan Thomas. He was an engineer with J. H. Fletcher Company, retiring after 43 enjoyable years and continued working as a consultant until his death. He was an avid ham radio operator, amateur photographer, boating enthusiast, and a kind gentleman. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Thomas; a step-daughter and her husband, Christine and Ryan Wheeler of Ashland, KY; a step-son and his wife, Jason and Candice McGuire of Barboursville, WV; a sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Kevin Cleary of Lynchburg, VA; three grandchildren, Ryan McGuire, Hayden Wheeler, and Riley McGuire; and close friends, David Cooper and David Shriver. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 4:00 pm with a memorial service following at 4:00 pm Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor John R. Yeager, CRE and David Cooper officiating. Dave had a special place in his heart for animals and would have appreciated donations made to the Cabell Wayne Animal Shelter, 1901 James River Road, Huntington, WV 25701.
