Captain Gene Lister

Captain Gene Lister, 94, of Huntington, WV, died Saturday July 9, 2022 in Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday July 12, 2022 at Chapman's Mortuary Huntington with Pastor Jerry Matt officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Gene was born November 16, 1927 in Williamson, WV the son of the late Samuel Wilbert and Leona Brammer Lister. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, worked for employment services for the state of West Virginia was a member of the former Highlawn Baptist Church and a deacon of the Barboursville Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife Louise Sowards Lister, three sons, Sam (Terry) Lister of Columbus, OH, Steve (Rebecca) Lister of Milton, WV and Jim (Amy) Lister of Scottown, OH, the mother of his children, Betty Cook of Lewisburg, WV, one stepdaughter, Milana (Richie) Cullum, two stepsons, Greg (Barbara) Isaacs, Bruce Isaacs and Johnnie all of Barboursville, 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the charity of your choice in his name. Veterans Honor Guard Post 16 will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Tuesday July 12, 2022 at Chapman's Mortuary.
