Obituary

Karen Leigh Goodrich Brown
(August 18, 1947 - May 7, 2013)

KAREN LEIGH “NANA” GOODRICH BROWN, 65, of Huntington, W.Va., died Tuesday May 7, 2013, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington. Karen was born in Huntington, the daughter of the late Chief Master Sergeant Richard E. Goodrich and Wanda Mae Underwood Goodrich. Karen was a graduate of Airline High School, Bossier City, La., and attended Marshall University. She retired as a tax auditor with the Internal Revenue Service after 33 years of service in the Ashland, Ky., and Huntington, W.Va., offices. She was a kind and loving lady, always willing to help others and especially enjoyed spending time with her son Paul Thomas Brown III (Tina), granddaughter Destiny Brown Hedrick, great-grandson John Thomas Hedrick (age 4), great-grandson Cameron Hedrick (age 4 months), all of Huntington; and boyfriend John T.M. Yewell of Ashland, Ky., all of whom survive her. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Robin (Bill) Wilson and a brother and sister-in-law Richard A. (Linda) Goodrich, all of Memphis, Tenn.; two grandsons, Christopher Owens (17) and Johnathon “John John” Owens (14) and a great-granddaughter Aubrey Owens (2 weeks old), all of Huntington; a host of friends and family; a best friend Patricia Snyder; friends and family on 15th Street West; and a very special friend Martha Smith. She will be sorely missed by all those who came to love her and leaves an empty spot in their hearts and will be missed until the day we all meet in Heaven. The celebration of her life will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Reger Funeral Home, 1242 Adams Ave., Huntington, with the family receiving friends from 1 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations in her name be made to the donor's favorite charity. Reger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
