Ray Cleo Mannon
(November 12, 1933 - February 24, 2018)



Ray Cleo Mannon, son of late Joseph and Emily Mannon died at his home in Ona, WV on Saturday February 24, 2018. Ray was born November 12, 1933 in Hamlin, WV. Ray was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ladena Mae Ellis Mannon; his son Derik Ray Mannon; his parents Joseph Russell Mannon and Emily Bias Mannon; his sister Deloris Mannon, his brother Guy W. Mannon. He is survived by his three daughters: Manya Lynn McCallister and her husband Rod of Huntington, WV; Monica Mannon of Asheville, NC; Nancy R. Mannon of Monroe, NJ; his two grand sons, Brandon J. McCallister and Lacie Thaxton of Huntington, WV; Bradley Clay McCallister and his wife Brittany of Philadelphia, PA; his two granddaughters: Elizabeth Mannon-Cravero and her husband Gabriel of Bowling Green, KY; Dr. Catherine Ellis Mannon of Nashville, TN; his two great grandsons: Elliott Ray Cravero and Daniel McCallister; his sister Fay Mannon – Rahoi and her husband Dennis of Iron Mountain, MI and his brother Gay W. Mannon and his wife Jerry of York, SC; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. Ray graduated Hamlin High School in 1951 and went to work in Cleveland, OH, but came back to Hamlin, WV, to marry Ladena Ellis in 1954. They lived in Huntington, WV and raised their family. He worked at Columbia Gas Company (later Mountaineer Gas Company) until 1984 when he started his own two companies State Equipment Inc and L & M development. Ray retired in 2005 from State Equipment, Inc. Ray was a member of Olive Baptist Church for many years and served as a deacon and as a Sunday school superintendent. He remained active with Gideon’s International to the end, speaking at many regional church’s on behalf of the Gideon’s for many decades. Visitation will be held at Wallace Funeral Home in Barboursville, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2018, with a memorial service to begin at 6:30 p.m.
