Edna Mae Martin McCown
(April 2, 1920 - February 7, 2012)


Edna Mae Martin McCown, 91,of Huntington, WV, widow of Lewis Edward McCown, passed away Tuesday February 7, 2012 at Jo-Lin Health Center, Ironton, OH. She was born April 2, 1920 in Cabell County, a daughter of the late Ernest Lee and Thelma LeGrand Martin. In addition to her parents and husband, an infant sister, Helen Martin and five brothers, Russell Martin, Verlin Martin, Charles Martin, Robert Martin, and Ernest Martin, Jr., preceded her in death. She worked formerly for the Huntington Dress Factory, was a member of American League of Garment Workers and a member of Norway Avenue Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter and a very special son-in-law, Margaret and John Rehme of South Webster, OH; a son and daughter-in-law, Lewis Robert “Bobby” and Marilyn McCown of Pleasant City, OH; two sisters, Virginia Chinn of Kenova, and Barbara Martin of Huntington; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne Rehme Adams and husband John Adams, John Christopher Rehme, Lewis Robert McCown, Jr., and Stephanie McCown; three great grandchildren, Anastatia “Taja” McCown, John Vincent “Jack” Adams III, and Rhett Thomas Adams; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday February 11, 2012 at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, with Dennis Martin officiating. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, OH. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Thomas Dannals and his secretary, Teresa Gibson for their wonderful care over the years, and a special thank you to the staff at Jo-Lin Health Center and Community Hospice of Southern Ohio for their care of Edna. Friends may visit after noon until service time Saturday at Chapman’s Mortuary.
