Mr. Richard E. Smith, 87, of Kenova, widower of Clarice Smith, passed away Friday, February 17, 2012, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at White Chapel Mausoleum, White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV, where burial will follow, with Pastor Randall Robertson officiating. He was born August 28, 1924 at Dayton, OH, a son of the late Verlin and Virginia Smith. He was a electronic engineer with Allied Realty. He was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church, and was a veteran. He is survived by 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and Stan Holifield, of Alabama, and Virginia Smith of Kentucky; and son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Lynn Smith, of Kenova, a nephew, Rex Powers of Huntington; 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; and his buddy, “Hermie”. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. He was a “country boy” at heart and prefers that everyone wear casual attire, with a preference for jeans.
