Obituary

Jarrett E. Maynard
(February 12, 1932 - March 25, 2014)



Jarrett E. Maynard, 82, of South Point, OH, passed away Tuesday March 25, 2014 at home. He was born February 12, 1932, in Clifford, KY, a son of Laurel and Stella Pope Maynard. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 61 years; Estelle Midkiff Maynard; four children, James (Janie) Maynard, Keith (Sara) Maynard, Nancy (Bill) Holland, and Naomi (David) Dixon. Eight grandchildren, Crystal Maynard, Joshua (Rachel) Maynard, Carter and Rachel Maynard, Morgan and Ryan Frye, and Emily and Nicholas Dixon. Four great grandchildren who were the light of his life; Bryce Stephens, Abigail Bloomfield, Willow and Jarrett Maynard. Two sisters, Francis Ratcliff and Peggy (Claude) Graham. He served four years in the U.S. Navy after which he worked 37 years for CSX Railroad as a foreman and later as a supervisor in the Communication Department. He and his wife also owned Maynard's Thriftway Market on Sixteenth Street Road in Huntington for several years. One of the things very dear to him was the organization of the Green Valley Volunteer Fire Department established in 1975 of which he was a charter member. He continued to serve as a member of the board until recent years. He was a faithful member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 321 30th Street, Huntington, with Pastor Robert A. Weaver and Dallas Moore officiating. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Friends may call 5:00-8:00 pm Friday at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington.
