HELEN JEAN SOWARDS
(June 9, 1932 - March 19, 2014)

Helen Jean Sowards, 81, of Huntington, WV, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014, in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Chapman’s Mortuary with Rev. David Cardwell officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV. She was born June 9, 1932 in Culloden, WV a daughter of the late Charles F. and Daisy Beckett Sowards. Sisters, Sharon Johnson, Lorilea Roten, and Eloise Fillinger, also preceded her in death. She was a retired inspector from Owens-Illinois Glass. She was a past president of the Busy Bee Club of Owens Illinois, and on the Board of Directors of C.C.C.S.O. Survivors include; sisters, Gladys Pack of Huntington, Anna Brabson of Dayton, OH, Emma McCoy of Lesage, and Pat Johnson and husband Clovis, of Ashton, WV; a nephew who she raised, George Sowards of Huntington; and several other nieces and nephews.
