Janet Gertrude Carter, 71, of Huntington, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday May 22, 2014. Janet is the daughter of the late Richard and Evelyn Skaggs of Louisville, KY. She is also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Kristen Carter; her twin brother, Gerald E. Skaggs, and brothers-in-law, Reuben Ashley and Claude Brandow. Janet worked for Champion Industries and Marshall Reynolds for 23 years. She was a member and minister’s wife at Beverly Hills Church of Christ Christian for over 32 years. Survivors include her devoted husband of 50 years, Minister Wayne Carter; one loving daughter and son-in-law, Dina and Michael Miller of Huntington; a sister, Helen Ashley and brother, Robert Skaggs, both of Louisville, KY; a son, Tom Hatten and a grandson, Jerry C. Herald. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, friends, and coworkers. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Tuesday May 27, 2014 at Beverly Hills Church of Christ Christian with Minister Hoyt Allen officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. The family extends a heartfelt thank-you to the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff at Cabell Huntington Hospital for their care of Janet. Friends may call Tuesday at the church after 11:00 am until service time. Donations can be sent to the church in her name. She was a devout and faithful servant of the Lord.
