Obituary

Jo Ann Hill
(May 14, 2014)

JO ANN ESTEP HILL, RN, 65, of Huntington, died May 14 at Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the eldest child of Cecil W. and Mildred Ferguson Estep. She is survived by her son, Ethan J. Hill of South Point, OH, a granddaughter, Bailey Van Meter, of Mason County, WV, her mother, Mildred Estep, of Ona, WV, a sister, Karen Curran, of Huntington, and a brother, John D. Estep, of Grand Rapids, MI. She graduated from Barboursville High School in 1966. She earned degrees of BSN and MSN, and was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She was a career nurse at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Jo Ann was part of the early Neonatal Intensive Care Unit staff of Dr. Joe Werthammer, which brought a new level of patient care to the region. She seemed to thrive when tending the most critically ill infants. Through Jo Ann's skill, dedication and love, she touched the lives of over a thousand babies and their families, and helped make it possible for these babies to grow to be healthy, productive adults. Friends and family will miss her kind spirit and giving nature. Visitation will be held in the undercroft at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 23rd and Adams Avenue, at 5 pm on Friday, May 23, 2014, and a memorial service at 6 pm. Dinner for family and close friends will follow.
