M. Jane (Averman) Deakin
(May 6, 1928 - May 9, 2014)



M. Jane (Averman) Deakin, 86, of Huntington, wife of John H. “Jack” Deakin, passed away Friday, May 9, 2014 at Madison Park, Huntington, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 10:00 am Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, Huntington, with Father Charles McGinnis officiating. Entombment will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, in Mount Olivet Cemetery Mausoleum, Charleston, WV. She was born May 6, 1928, in Latrobe, PA, a daughter of the late Harry Bernard and Teresa Green Averman. Her brothers, John Averman and Fr. Melvin Averman, O.F.M. Cap., also precede her in death. Jane attended University of Maryland and graduated in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics. She has lived formerly in Cumberland, MD, Pittsburgh, PA, Charleston, WV, Hurricane, WV, and Barboursville, WV. A former volunteer for Meals on Wheels at Thomas Memorial Hospital, and she was a former member of Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral in Charleston. In addition to her husband, “Jack”, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Robert Dabecco of Columbus, OH; six sons and four daughters-in-law, John H. “Jack” Deakin, Jr. and wife Trisha of Huntington, Richard G. and Darcy Deakin of Ambridge, PA., Paul F. and Lori Deakin of Cecil, PA., Edward J. Deakin of Ann Arbor, MI., Christopher M. and Linda Deakin of Columbus, OH., and James P. Deakin of Bridgeville, PA.; 13 grandchildren, and a great grandchild. A special thank-you to the staff at Madison Park Senior Community for their excellent comfort and care. Friends may attend a celebration of her life on Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 pm at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, with a rosary at 8:00 pm.
