Obituary



Hobert Laverne Roe, 89, of Huntington, WV, an avid hunter, beekeeper and Master Gardener, passed away Wednesday January 6, 2016 at Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday January 9, 2016 at Chapman's Mortuary Huntington with Minister David Roach officiating. Burial will be in Easterling Cemetery, Olive Hill, KY. Hobert was born July 15, 1926 in Olive Hill, KY, a son of the late Charles "Charlie" and Norma Counts Roe. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of the Ceredo Church of Christ, The WV Beekeeper Association, American Legion Post 16 whose members will conduct military graveside rites and the Huntington Brewers Association. He was also preceded in death by three children, Jerry, Karen and Danny, four sisters and four brothers. Survivors include his wife Wanda Roe, four daughters, Linda (Neal) Dunwoody of Florida, Diana (Dan) Smirl of Savanna, GA, Vicky (Marc) Frye of South Carolina, and Angela Smith of Huntington, four sons, David (Susie) Roe, Charlie (Debbie) Smith, Joseph (Sandi) Smith and Jason Roe all of Huntington, one sister, Rita (Bob) Easterling, three brothers, Bobby Lee (Georgianna) Roe of Waco, TX, Clifford (Rita) Roe of Olive Hill, Hubert "Fred" Roe of Indiana, 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Fred and Eldora McCoy of Huntington. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 1:30 PM for the graveside committal service. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday January 8, 2016 at Chapman's Mortuary.
