John R. Scott, Jr., 92 of Huntington, WV, died Thursday, October 20, 2016, in Huntington, WV. Graveside funeral service will be conducted 1:00 PM Monday, October 24, 2016, at Spring Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Rick Wilson officiating, with a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM Monday at Highlawn Presbyterian Church (2814 Collis Ave), with a reception to follow at the church. John was born July 27, 1924 in Huntington, WV a son of the late John R. Scott, Sr. and Graci Adams Scott. John was a graduate of Marshall University; was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; and was a member of Highlawn Presbyterian Church. He was a member of VFW Post 9738 and formerly served on their Veterans Honor Guard, American Legion Post 16, and served in the U.S. Army in WWII, where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was an avid square dancer and a member of the Paw Taws square dance club. Survivors include his wife Erma Lee Eaton Scott, one daughter Diana Turner of Huntington and fiancée, Casey Harbour, two sons, Nick (Janie) Forto of Richmond, VA, and Jim (Sue) Forto of Chesapeake, OH, two sisters, Mary Rice and Ruth Scott both of Huntington, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Veterans Honor Guard Post 16 will conduct military graveside rites. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Highlawn Presbyterian Church.
