Obituary



Betty Lou Wheeler, 86, of Huntington, WV, passed away Monday, October 3, 2016, in St. Mary's Medical Center. Betty was born April 12, 1930 in Huntington, WV a daughter of the late Gordon and Mable Weekley Chain. Her husband, Clarence Hampton Wheeler and her son, David Matthew Wheeler, also preceded her in death. She was a retired ward clerk at St. Mary's Medical Center; was a former member of Highlawn Baptist Church; and was a member of VFW Post 9738 and American Legion Post 16 Ladies Auxiliaries. Survivors include: one son, Gordon Patrick Wheeler and his wife, Judy of Roanoke, VA; 16 grandchildren, Jonathan (Courtney) Wheeler, Rachel (Chantry) Garay, and Sarah, Rebekah, Seth, Nathan, Annalise, Andrew, Luke, Samuel, Aaron, Joshua, Caleb, Jordan, Jacob, and Daniel Wheeler; four great grandchildren, Nevaeh Ingram, Alexander Garay, Elizabeth Garay and Max Garay all of Roanoke, VA; a sister, Wanda Tolley of Huntington; and four nephews, Greg Tolley of Florida, Kevin (Marcia) Tolley of Huntington, David (Marla) Tolley of Huntington, and Joe (Kristy) Tolley of South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Woodmere Memorial Park, Abbey of Remembrance, with Rev. Robin Crouch officiating. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the Abbey of Remembrance. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff and the office staff at Heritage Center for all of their care and concern.
