Lillian A. Duncan
December 8, 1910 - March 10, 2009



Lillian A. Duncan, 98, of 99 13th Street, Huntington, WV, widow of Rufus E. Duncan, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at Heartland of Riverview, South Point, OH. Funeral services will be conducted 7:30 PM Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Dr. David B. Lemming, and Rev. Richard Sexton officiating. A private burial with VFW Post 1064 conducting military graveside rites will be on Friday at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. She was born December 8, 1910 in Lincoln County, WV, a daughter of the late Milton and Cora B. Stowers Adkins. Also preceding her in death were five brothers and four sisters. She was a retired Missionary serving 31 years in the work, teaching the word of God to boys and girls, men and women, through Bible classes and Bible correspondence courses. She was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, a graduate of Hamlin High School, and graduate of Midwest Bible and Missionary College, Saint Louis, MO. She worked with the Tennessee Mountain Mission, Dayton, TN, Child Evangelism Fellowship, East St. Louis, IL, with Berean Mission, St. Louis, MO, on the islands of Grenada and Dominica, West Indies. She was an Associate Missionary with Source of Light Ministries, setting up Bible Correspondence Schools in Grenada, Dominica, West Indies, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Monrovia, Liberia West Africa. She also spent two years in the home office of Source of Light Ministries. She was a former member of the Souls for Christ Baptist Church, and a present member of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include a brother, Milton Adkins, Jr., of Dunnellon, FL; a sister, Shermia Lee Jeffers of Huntington; two foster sons, Robert James Oughton of Phoenix, AZ, and Daniel T. Oughton of Austin, TX; four foster grandsons and a foster granddaughter; four nieces living in Huntington, Donarita Stanley, Gloria and her husband Ivan McGlone, Mary Lee North, and Avinell Browning; a nephew and his wife, Scott and Goldie Adkins of Hamlin, WV; and a host of other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Source of Light Ministries, 1011 Mission Road, Madison, GA. 30650. Friends may call after 6:00 PM until services on Thursday at Chapman,s Mortuary.
