Ruby I. Lafon
August 23, 1940 - February 27, 2009



Ruby I. Lafon, 68, of Huntington, WV., died Friday February 27, 2009 at St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday March 2, 2009 at the Norway Avenue Church of Christ by Minister Jeff Garrett. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park. Ruby was born August 23, 1940 in Huntington, WV., a daughter of the late Gilbert & Effie Dell Pine Lafon. She was a salesperson for Woody's Kitchens for over 20 years and retired from Spurlock's Flowers. Ruby was a member of the Norway Avenue Church of Christ, a graduate of H.E.H.S. in 1958; she loved all sports and was an avid bowler, a breast cancer survivor, and a huge Marshall University fan. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters; Mary Ann Edge, Velma Damron & Norma Hughes, and 2 brothers; Raymond & Kip Lafon. Her brother Carl Lafon passed away on the same day as Ruby, and will be sharing funeral services with her Monday. Survivors include 1 sister; Margaret Spaulding of Huntington, 1 brother; Howard Lafon & wife Shirley of Palm Bay, Fl., her special Godchild; Kristina Williams of Ona, and several nieces, nephews & cousins. Ruby never met a stranger and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Donations may be made to the Breast Cancer Association. Friends may call from 12:30 to service time Monday at the church. Chapman's Mortuary Huntington is in charge of arrangements.
