Mary Sue Malik, 64, of Huntington, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at Pleasant Valley Nursing Care Center, Point Pleasant, WV. Born August 26th, 1950 she was a Devoted Daughter to Anthony Malik and Virginia Shilot Malik, who both preceded her in death. Mary Sue, better known as "Susie", was a proud second generation immigrant Malik from Osada, Slovakia and third generation immigrant from Italy. She valiantly battled serious illness over four years with dignity and inspiring faith, worshiping at Bethel Temple Assembly of God. She was attended in the late stages of her illness by Cousin Mary Elizabeth (Malik) Satina of Scenery Hill, PA., and best friends Sharon Hall, of Point Pleasant and Valerie Wilson of Huntington. Susie was the Health Inspector for Wayne County, for nearly 20 years, then returned to college, graduating in 2000 from Marshall University as a Registered Licensed Dietitian. Since, she worked in WV and Ohio nursing homes, and most recently at Pleasant Valley Hospital and Rehabilitation Center. Susie is survived by a brother, Daniel Lee Malik, his wife Jewell and Susie's nieces, Abigail Danielle Malik and Sarah Elisabeth Malik, all of Ashland, KY. Her living maternal Aunts are Ruth (Shilot) Swiney of Logan, Pat (Shilot) and Uncle Bob Nichols of Huntington, and Freda Shilot, of Kenova, 11 Malik cousins and many Shilot cousins. Susie is predeceased by five Malik Uncles, an Aunt, and their spouses. On her Shilot side, Susie is predeceased by four Uncles, an Aunt, and several cousins. All who knew Susie will miss her infectious laugh, devout faith, and ability to forgive. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at the Bethel Temple Assembly of God, with Rev. Doug Johnson officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV. Family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Chapman's Mortuary and after 10:00 am Wednesday at the church.
