Obituary
Joda Maurice Ellis, II, of Huntington, went to be with the Lord Thursday April 14, 2016 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 5 pm Sunday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Bob McGlone. Burial will be private for the family at the Donel C. Kinnard State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar, WV. He was born April 25, 1936 in Man, WV, a son of the late Joda Maurice Ellis and Maisie White Ellis. Joda graduated from Man High School and earned his B.A. in Accounting from Marshall University. He was a veteran of the US Air Force having served during the Korean War, was a member of the VFW Post 1064 of Huntington, he was also a member of the Civilian Marksmanship Program as well as a lifelong member of the NRA. He retired from Lanier Corp., was a member of Vinson Memorial Christian Church and he helped construct many of the facilities at Heritage Farm. Joda was also an avid golfer. He will be greatly remembered for taking pictures for the Vinson Band though the years. Joda contributed to several charities including Boys Town, Disabled American Veterans, Soles for Souls, City Mission, Salvation Army, St. Jude Research and sponsored several children through World Vision. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Barbara Church Ellis. Survivors include a son Steve (Bert) Ellis of Huntington; two daughters Marla (Gary) Adkins and Joi (Chris) Swann all of Huntington; six grandchildren Heather, Jessica, Tiffany, Samantha, Cameron and Tyler and four great grandchildren Jacoby, Jaxon, Jaelyn and Eli. Friends may call from 3 to 5 pm Sunday at the Reger Funeral Home.
