Ruth Elizabeth Finley, 92, of Huntington, WV passed away on Friday, April 22. 2016 at the Woodlands Retirement Center. Funeral services will be celebrated on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Monsignor Lawrence Luciana and Pastor Norman Jones Sr. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Ruth was born on June 17, 1923 in Huntington, WV, the daughter of the late Arthur Forte and Emma Cordelia Crawford Forte Hill. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death her husband James. She was also preceded by her brother and sister, Jack Forte and Lillian Thurston. Ruth was a graduate of Douglass High School and Marshall University with a degree in Business Administration and Accounting and worked in accounting for Qualpeco Industries until her retirement. She then became the owner and operator of her own boutique.  Ruth and her husband James traveled extensively in the United States, but after his death Ruth expanded her travel worldwide. Ruth was very active in the Huntington community having served on the YMCA as a member of the Board of Directors. Charter member of the Fitzpatrick Society at the Huntington Museum of Art and chaired the scholarship committee of the Carter G. Woodson Memorial Foundation. A member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughter. She was twice appointed to the Cabell-Wayne Public Defender board of directors, two terms with the Democratic Executive Committee, membership in the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women. Ruth holds a platinum membership in LINKS and is a member of the Charleston-Huntington Smart Set. Ruth is survived by her step daughter and spouse, Blanche and Howard Greene; grandchildren Howard Greene Sr. (Karen), Leslie Greene and James Greene Sr. (Louann); great grandchildren James Greene Jr. and Michael Greene; nieces Barbara Forte Johnson, Penny Jacobs and Pricilla Davis and a very special friend Dolores Johnson and Drs. Loretta and Stephen Gunn. Reger Funeral Home is assisting the family.
