Delano Lee Johnson
(June 5, 1936 - August 1, 2014)



Delano Lee Johnson, 78, of Barboursville, passed away August 1, 2014 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. Ralph Sager and Rev. Dr. John Sauvage. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. He was born June 5, 1936 in Cabell County, a son of the late Edgar Lee and Elvena Mitzi Hatfield Johnson. He was an employee of Broughton Dairy and retired from Adams Trucking. He was a charter member of the Barboursville Volunteer Fire Department, and an avid hunter, fisherman, NASCAR fan and a proud West Virginian. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Donna Thabet and Sherry Boring and a brother-in-law, Milton Neal. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carole Sarten Johnson; three daughters, Debbie Maynard of Jackson, NJ, Tammy (Jeff) Simmons of Pickerington, Ohio and Jennifer (Don) Collins of Pickerington, Ohio; three sisters, Wilma O'Dell (Bryan) of Arlington Heights, Ill, Peggy Neal of Barboursville and Brenda (Pat) Cornwell of Barboursville; one brother, Jerry (Phyllis) Johnson of Barboursville; four grandchildren, Carole Suarez, Craig Maynard, Joe Chaput and Robby Collins; and six great-grandchildren, Paige, Kailey, Christian, Caroline, Auggie and Molly. The family would like to thank the staff of the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House for their kindness and care. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
