William Eugene "Gene" Murphy
(February 27, 1929 - August 3, 2014)

William Eugene "Gene" Murphy, 85, of Huntington, WV, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014 at St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. Bill Pinkerman. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. He was born February 27, 1929 in Huntington, a son of the late Elijah and Lillian Cremeans Murphy. He was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Murphy. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Holley Murphy; daughters and sons-in-law, Cassandra and Russ Morgan of Barboursville, Lisa and Scott Muehlberger of Wellington, FL, Louella Sue and Frank Casella, Chesapeake, OH and Barbara and David Hampton of Huntington; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Mary-Jane Holley of Chesapeake, OH, William Allen and Rita Murphy of Oman, Phillip and DeeAnn Murphy of Springboro, OH, Greg and Glinda Murphy of Wayne and Sherry Murphy of Kenova; twenty grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
